Postju and Mastodon
This page describes the connection Postju establishes with Mastodon: what we do, what we don't do, which permissions we request, and what happens to your data.
What Postju does on Mastodon
- Connects your Mastodon account through the platform's own consent screen.
- Reads your account's display name and avatar so the channel is shown correctly in your dashboard.
- Publishes the posts you created, at the moment you asked for.
- Stores the published post's link on the platform so you can open it from its card in one click.
What Postju does not do on Mastodon
- It never asks for, sees, or stores your social media password.
- It never publishes anything you didn't create.
- It doesn't farm followers or perform automatic likes or follows.
- It doesn't read your follower list, direct messages or analytics.
- It doesn't sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.
These are the scopes you'll see on the platform's consent screen when you connect. We don't ask for more.

Mastodon limits
The limits below aren't set by Postju — they're Mastodon's own rules. Postju checks them while you're composing the post.
- Character limit
- 500 code points
- Maximum media
- 4
- Text-only posts
- Text-only posts are accepted
Data we store
Everything we obtain from this connection and keep in our database is listed below. We store nothing else.
- Your account identifier on Mastodon — so the post reaches the right account.
- Your account's display name and avatar URL — to show the channel in your dashboard.
- Access and refresh tokens — stored encrypted, decrypted only at publish time.
- The text, media and platform links of the posts you published.
How to disconnect
Go to the Channels screen in your dashboard and remove the channel. The permission we stored is deleted at that moment, and no further post can be sent to that account. You can also do the same from the platform's own 'connected apps' settings. If you want to remove your entire account, you can do that yourself from the Settings screen — no need to contact us.
